Hot Sauce Lax to Host 'Evaluation Camp' for Summer 2022 Teams

AZ Hot Sauce Lacrosse will be hosting a one-day "Evaluation Camp" for boys lacrosse players of all ages, February 13, 2022, 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Tempe Sport Complex, 8401 S Hardy Drive in Tempe, Arizona.

"This is where our 'team building' process begins," said Hot Sauce founder and program director Dan Lannon. "Players from all parts of the Phoenix Valley can come together, get to know some new players, reconnect with old friends, and really start to build a culture."

In the summer of 2022, AZ Hot Sauce Lacrosse will offer opportunities for players entering grades K through 12, and the most motivated players in grades 5 through 12 will be invited to travel with Hot Sauce to tournaments throughout the country.

“The objectives of the coaches and administrators in our middle school and high school programs are simple - find young men that care about others and are willing to constantly work to get better,” said varsity head coach Frank Ferrantelli. Younger players will also be invited to participate in summer leagues and instructional clinics.

The longest-running competitive travel program in Arizona, Hot Sauce is embarking on a relaunch of the program, following the announcement that it would be the "house team" for Legacy Sports at Bell Bank Park.

Hot Sauce has already locked in its summer tournament schedule for its middle school teams. The Ghosts (7th/8th grade) and Anchos (6th/5th) teams will be heading to the Santa Barbara Showdown, June 18-19, and the Tribz Lacrosse California Showdown in Irvine, July 23-24.

"And for our high school players, we're planning on four summer tournaments," added Lannon. Several options are still under consideration, including tournaments in Colorado, Utah, and the East coast, in addition to traditional venues in California. "Many of our players and their families have asked for a greater variety of destinations, so we're looking at a lot of options."

Players who attend the Camp will be evaluated by the Hot Sauce coaching staff on the basis of their individual skill, athleticism, and attitude, as well as their "lax IQ" and teamwork skills. Based on this evaluation, players may be invited to an age-appropriate travel team. All players will be invited to upcoming leagues and player development clinics.
