AZ Hot Sauce Lacrosse Announces 2023 Tournament Schedule

AZ Hot Sauce Lacrosse has announced that it will be fielding teams at two tournaments for the summer of 2023: the Adrenaline World Lacrosse Festival, June 29-July 2, in San Diego, and the Tribz California Summer Showcase, July 22-23, in Irvine, California. Returning AZ Hot Sauce players are encouraged to register before March 1.

The Adrenaline World Lacrosse Festival is the official tournament surrounding the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in San Diego. Teams will play four games, one each day, which will allow players and families to attend the World Lacrosse Championships.

"This will be an amazing experience," said Ryan Berns, head coach for junior high programs. "Being able to play in this setting and at this historic event will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our players."

The first world championship in the sport of lacrosse to take place in California, the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s World Championship will feature 30 teams and more than 100 games at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego from June 21 to July 1, 2023.

The World Lacrosse Championship started as a four-team invitational tournament in 1967, coinciding with Canada's centennial lacrosse celebration. The tournament featured four teams: Canada, the United States, Australia, and England.

Since 1974, the Men's World Championship has taken place every four years around the globe. The United States leads the world with ten World Championships. Canada follows with three World Championships. The most recent championship took place in Israel in 2018, marking the largest tournament with 46 nations competing.

Hot Sauce will end the summer at the Tribz California Showcase, held at the Orange County Great Park, July 22-23.

"We've been playing in this tournament for several years," said Kelly Howell, varsity programs head coach. "The fields are beautiful, the tournament organizers are on point, and the competition is great."

In total, AZ Hot Sauce Lacrosse plans to field at least four teams at both tournaments. Players who participated in summer or fall 2022 teams are invited to reserve their roster spot by March 1. Invitations to new players will be going out the week of February 6.

Returning players are encouraged to register quickly, as roster spots will be limited. Registration is available at https://www.azhotsaucelax.com/registration.
